Sports massage with Kate

Kate Bennett is one of the Crew42 coaches, so she knows training from the inside. She understands what heavy legs after a long run feel like, or tight hips after a week at a desk. Every session is one to one and built around how you feel and what you've got coming up. You don't need to be a Crew42 member, and you don't need to be an athlete.

Types of sports massage

  • Deep tissue massage: firmer, slower work into tight muscles. It may help ease tension and stiffness from training, sport or long days at a desk.
  • Injury and recovery massage: massage to support your recovery from niggles and strains, alongside any advice from your GP or physio. It may help you feel looser and move more comfortably.
  • Pre-event massage: a lighter, quicker massage before a race, match or big session to help you feel loose and ready.
  • Post-event massage: after a race, match or event. It may help with recovery and with tired, aching muscles.
  • Maintenance massage: regular sessions to stay on top of tightness if you train often, run, play sport or have a physical job.

Not sure which you need? Tell Kate what you're training for or what's bothering you, and she'll suggest what suits you.

Questions

What is sports massage?

Sports massage is a hands-on massage that focuses on the muscles you use in training, sport and everyday life. Kate adjusts the pressure and techniques to you, from lighter pre-event work to deeper tissue work.

Do I need to play sport to have a sports massage?

No. Sports massage suits anyone with tight or tired muscles, including people who sit at a desk all day or have a physical job.

What types of massage does Kate offer?

Deep tissue, injury and recovery, pre-event, post-event and maintenance massage. Tell Kate what you need and she'll suggest what suits you.

Can sports massage help with an injury?

Massage may help you feel looser and more comfortable while you recover, and it can sit alongside advice from your GP or physio. Tell Kate about any injury or health condition before your session. She may ask you to check with your GP or physio first, and she can't diagnose injuries or give medical advice.

Is deep tissue massage painful?

It can feel firm, but it shouldn't be more than you're comfortable with. Kate checks the pressure with you throughout, and you can ask her to go lighter at any time.

Do I need to be a Crew42 member?

No. Anyone can enquire about a sports massage with Kate.

When should I have a pre-event or post-event massage?

It depends on your event and how you usually feel. Tell Kate the date and the type of event, and she'll suggest the best timing.

12-14 Moor Lane, Crosby, Liverpool L23 2UE, on the first floor above Home Bargains, up the stairs. There's a car park behind Home Bargains. We're easy to reach from Waterloo, Blundellsands, Thornton and Formby.
